Logmotive Privacy Policy

Effective date: 17 September 2026

Logmotive is a dashcam, GPS performance timer and exploration map for iPhone. This policy explains what the app does with your data. The short version: your driving stays on your iPhone. We do not run servers, we do not have accounts, and we never receive your footage, your location, your routes or your runs.

1. What we collect

Nothing. Logmotive has no user accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting and no tracking. We do not operate any backend that the app talks to, so no data about you or your driving is ever transmitted to us.

2. Data the app keeps on your device

To do its job, Logmotive stores the following on your iPhone only:

  • Dashcam clips — video and, if you leave it on, audio recorded from the camera and microphone. Clips carry no location metadata.

  • Location history — GPS fixes used for speed readouts, performance timing, trip routes and the roads you have revealed on the map.

  • Motion data — accelerometer readings used to measure g-forces during a run. Only the derived figures (peak g, splits) are saved.

  • Runs, laps and trips — times, splits, speeds, distances, routes, stops, and anything you type in yourself: vehicle name, trip purpose, odometer reading, weather, temperature, notes.

  • Courses — the start, checkpoint and finish gates you lay out, and any you import from another driver.

  • Your driver name — optional, typed by you in Settings, and attached only to courses you choose to share.

  • Settings and purchase state — your preferences, your banked export minutes, and whether you own Logmotive Unlimited.

All of this is stored in the app's private container. It is protected by iOS file encryption and, by default, is excluded from iCloud Backup and Finder/iTunes backups. You can choose to include it by turning on Include in iCloud Backup in General Settings; if you do, Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy govern that backup.

3. Permissions the app asks for

  • Location (While Using the App) Speed, timing, routes, and revealing the map. Logmotive never requests "Always" location. By default background updates run only while a run, lap or trip you started is under way, with the blue status indicator visible.

  • Camera Recording dashcam footage; scanning a course QR code for import

  • Microphone Sound in dashcam clipsOptional — turn Record Audio off in Dashcam Settings and the microphone is never asked for.

  • Motion & Fitness G-force measurement during runs

  • Photo Library (add only) Saving a clip to Photos when you ask. Requires banked export minutes or Logmotive Unlimited.

You can change any of these at any time in iOS Settings › Logmotive. The app keeps working with reduced features if a permission is declined.

4. The one network connection: rewarded ads

Logmotive is free, and exports are funded by optional rewarded ads. The app makes exactly one kind of network request, and only when you tap Watch Ad on the Earn Minutes screen: it asks Google AdMob for an ad. Nothing is sent to Google at launch, in the background, or if you never tap that button. If you buy Logmotive Unlimited, the app never contacts Google at all.

When you do watch an ad:

  • Ads are requested in non-personalized mode (Google's "limited ads" / npa=1). No advertising identifier (IDFA) is read, and Logmotive never shows Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt because it never tracks you.

  • Google still necessarily receives what any web request carries: your IP address, device model, iOS version and locale, plus SKAdNetwork attribution signals that Apple provides to advertisers without identifying you.

  • None of your Logmotive data — footage, location, runs, courses — is ever included in an ad request.

Google's handling of that data is described in the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

5. Purchases

Logmotive Unlimited is a one-time purchase processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, payment details or Apple ID; Apple provides only a receipt that unlocks the purchase on your device. Apple's privacy policy applies to that transaction.

6. Sharing you start yourself

Nothing leaves the app unless you share it. When you do, you choose the destination through the standard iOS share sheet, and whatever you send is governed by the app or service you send it to.

  • Session cards are images of a run, lap or trip you choose to share.

  • Dashcam clips can be exported or saved to Photos.

  • Mileage logs are CSV files of the trips you tick, containing date, vehicle, purpose, odometer readings, distance and your notes.

  • Courses are shared as a file, a QR code or a logmotive:// link. A shared course carries the gate positions, the date it was laid out, and the driver name you entered in Settings (if any). Passing on a course you received keeps the original creator's name, not yours.

A course sent to you is previewed first and saved only when you tap Add.

7. Children

Logmotive is a driving app and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

8. Your control and deletion

Because everything is on your phone, you are in full control:

  • Delete individual clips, runs, trips or courses from within the app.

  • Use Clear Data on any Settings page to erase one tab's data or everything at once.

  • Uninstall the app to remove all of its data from the device (and from any backup once that backup is refreshed).

Since we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on your behalf — and no request is needed.

9. Security

Files are written with iOS Data Protection (complete until first user authentication), which is the strongest class compatible with recording while the phone is locked in a mount. The app has no server, so there is no remote copy to secure.

10. Changes to this policy

If the app's behaviour changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this page and the effective date above, and note the change in the App Store release notes.
