TIOT Iss.7 - The Ferrari Luce 🤔

It’s been about 24 hours since the reveal of the Ferrari Luce’s exterior, and I—along with the rest of the internet—have strong feelings about it. Unlike much of the online discourse, however, I’m slowly coming around to the vehicle’s design. It took some time to understand the design choices and to interrogate my own opinions, but once I asked myself a simple question, everything became clearer:

“Would you be as upset if it wasn’t a Ferrari?”

After just a few moments of reflection, I could confidently answer: No. That realization made me understand that my initial reaction wasn’t based on the car’s own merits but rather on the weight of Ferrari’s history—an unfair way to evaluate the Luce.

Just one example is from Enzo Ferrari himself, the company’s founder, who strongly believed that a car’s engine should be positioned in the front of the vehicle no matter what. Yet, before his passing, both the last car he personally approved and the Ferrari Enzo itself featured mid-mounted engines. Ferrari has always evolved its philosophy to adapt to changing times.

And that’s exactly why the brand partnered with LoveFrom for the Luce. They wanted a design completely divorced from their current lineup—and they got it. Ferrari isn’t afraid to challenge tradition because staying stagnant would risk the same fate as countless legendary automakers who have disappeared.

So, before judging the Luce harshly, ask yourself: “Would I be as mad if it wasn’t a Ferrari?” From there, the conversation changes. The interior is stunning, and while the body structure isn’t traditional, it’s undeniably advanced. I just wished they would have gone all the way and ditched the call back circular taillights that I feel don't fit this car at all.
